President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday allegedly canceled his scheduled one-day visit to Ogoniland, Rivers state over alleged assassination threats.
The president was scheduled to visit the oil-producing state which has been hit by a wave of militant attacks in recent weeks, for the flag off of the Ogoni land clean up.
It was learnt that he will now be represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the event.
Recall that the media was awash with news that the newly formed militant group, Niger Delta Avengers had threatened to kill the President should he step foot in the Niger Delta region.
No reason has been given for the cancellation.
