– Community vigilante boys and suspected armed
gang are allegedly in a gun battle in olakpata community of Ahoada East
– Residents are scampering of safety as suspected
invaders are on their way to the market square with mind boggling ammunitions.
An eye witness report suggests that there is
heavy shooting around Olakpata community of Ahoada East LGA of Rivers state.
Sources say the shootings began this morning, Friday,
May 6th when a popular armed robber, IBE who has been terrorising the community
without resistance from security operatives was allegedly kill and burnt to
death by men loyal to the community chief, Eze Ekpeye Lobo 1.
Asiri Naija eye witness reporter says that there
is panic and tension as residents are scampering for safety because Mr IBE’s
cult gang, the islanders have vowed to wipe out the residents of the community,
which is currently ongoing even as 20 lives have been lost.
While interviewing some residents, one mr wodo
said he was surprised that the vigilante boys killed Ibe because the only people
terrorizing us here are fulani herdsmen. Another respondent said that ibe had
been working with some cult like gang to terrorise the community and that they
use powerful weapons.
There are also speculations amongst residents of
the community that the police division has been contacted but have done
anything to ward off threats and killings in the community.
When contacted by the Asiri Naija team, the phone
number of the state police spokesman, DSP Ahmad Muhammad could not be reached
even as the said operation was still on.
There were speculations among community residents
that the community chief, Eze Ekpeye lobo 1 may be attacked by the rampaging gunmen
since he was privy to the death of Mr IBE.
